What is a Windows Azure Boot Camp?
Windows Azure Boot Camp is a full day deep dive class to get you up to speed on developing for Windows Azure. The class includes a trainer with deep real world experience with Azure, as well as a series of labs so you can practice what you just learned. Complete contents can be found here: http://windowsazurebootcamp.com/agenda (note that this targets a 2 day event, Visug does a 1 day event!)

During the boot camp you will have opportunities to practice what you learn with labs. Having all of your software ready will make it easier to dive into the yummy goodness of exploring the labs. The lab package will be given to you during the event. This will need to be installed. If you want to have everything loaded into a virtual PC that would be even better.

In order to run these labs you will need to bring:

Power strip or extension cord
Access to a training Azure account online will be made available during your training class. This access has been made possible because of the support of the Azure team at Microsoft.
A computer or laptop:
- Operating Systems Supported: Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Vista Service Pack 1 or Windows Vista Service Pack 2
- Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Release Candidate (free), Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 SP1, or Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition with SP1 - * if you use Express Edition you will not be able to complete all fo the labs.
- SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (or above) (this is usually installed with Visual Studio)
- Hotfix: Correct WCF metadata when hosting behind a load balancer
- Hotfix: Native Debugging Improvements (not required for Visual Studio 2010)
- Hotfix: Improve Visual Studio Stability (not required for Windows 7)
- Hotfix: Support for FastCGI on the Development Fabric (not required for Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 SP2 or later)
- Install the Windows Azure Tools for Microsoft Visual Studio
- Install the AppFabric SDK
- Install the Windows Azure Platform Training Kit

About the speaker:
Brian H. Prince is an Architect Evangelist for Microsoft. He gets super excited whenever he talks about technology, especially cloud computing, patterns, and practices. His job is to help customers strategically leverage MS technology, and help them bring their architecture to a super level. He is a co-founder of the non-profit organization CodeMash (www.codemash.org). He speaks at various regional and national technology events including Tech·Ed. He is the co-author of "Azure in Action." Brian holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science and Physics from Capital University, Columbus, Ohio. He is also a zealous gamer. For example, he is a huge fan of Fallout 3.
